Riccardo Burzotta · Co-Founder
"A stone should be sold by the person who chose it at the mine. Everything else is just a shop."
Cygnet Gems was co-founded on a simple principle: that trust in a coloured stone comes from knowing who bought it, and where. A stone is not an anonymous commodity — it is a single object, pulled from a specific piece of ground, and its story matters.
Riccardo has spent years working directly with cutters and miners across the Swat Valley, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and East Africa. He buys almost exclusively untreated material, in person, one piece at a time.
Cygnet operates as a private dealership rather than a showroom. Clients — collectors, jewellers, family offices — are received by appointment in London, Essex or Milan. Every piece is offered with full disclosure of origin and treatment, and full lab reports where the stone warrants it.

"Riccardo finds them. I decide whether they're good enough."
Christopher Dyer brings decades in the coloured-stone trade to Cygnet — a career spent grading, cutting and valuing rough and polished material across the world's principal markets. If Riccardo is the house's face, Christopher is its eye.
Nothing enters the cabinet without passing his loupe. Colour, saturation, extinction, the honesty of a cut, evidence of treatment — each stone is assessed independently before it is ever catalogued, and anything that fails is sent back.
Clients rely on that second judgment as much as on the sourcing. Between them, the two partners cover the full distance from a mine face to a finished, fully disclosed offer.
